STOA, a contemporary Architecture + Interior design studio, was founded by a duo of like-minded architects who are guided by philosophies of utilitarian design combined with a strong aesthetic statement.
The studio approaches each of its projects as a unique challenge and strives to devise strategies for appropriate response to context and aspirations of the final users. The studio practices a simplistic architectural vocabulary with emphasis on efficient planning of spaces along with strategic use of form and materials.
Having grown up in a family of architects, engineers and artists, I have always had an interest in art and architecture. I decided to pursue architecture from Rizvi College where I graduated with a B.Arch (Mumbai University). After graduating, I worked with Architect Satish Madhiwalla, and later with Faquih & Associates (a leading design firm based in Mumbai). I gained experience in designing, presentations and on-site management. Soon after, I started undertaking freelance assignments.
In 2013, I established STOA | Studio of Architecture, together with my husband, Urooz Virk. We are now based in Pune.
With a keen appreciation for the creative disciplines like architecture, graphic design and photography,
I chose architecture over other career choices.
After completing B.Arch from Rizvi College of Architecture, ( Mumbai University), I interned with Chandrashekhar Kanetkar Architects, known for its expertise in hospitality design. I got the opportunity to be closely involved with the design of the the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Goa.
Eager to gain on-site experience along with designing, I worked with Design Forum of Architects ( Noida) on large-scale residential and commercial projects within Delhi NCR, and later with Absolute Architecture (Noida). I began undertaking small freelance projects with the aim of establishing an independent studio and since 2013 I am partner at STOA.
